Key additions support RTI’s growth in the global resimercial automation segment
SHAKOPEE, Minn. — Feb. 15, 2022 — Leading control and automation manufacturer RTI today announced that the company has bolstered its engineering team with the appointment of Kevin Flanders as its Director of Engineering. In this new role, Flanders will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of all RTI product solutions, working closely with RTI Co-Founder, CTO, and visionary Kevin Marty. And returning to RTI is Mark Melville, who will lead the company’s hardware engineering team.
“Kevin and Mark have already been instrumental in elevating our product development and are building on that momentum in 2022,” said RTI Chief Executive Joe Roberts. “They bring rich product development experience to RTI, and they share the RTI philosophy of integrating customer feedback into the product development process, so we deliver solutions that businesses and end consumers need. We are thrilled to have them on the RTI team.”
Flanders brings over 20 years of product development experience spanning several industries, including security, IoT, SaaS, and defense. He comes to RTI from General Dynamics, where he led a team of developers specializing in mission-critical computing solutions for airborne systems. Previously, he served as senior manager at Unisys and has led engineering teams at UTC Fire & Security, GE Security (Interlogix), and Interactive Technologies Inc. A veteran of the US Navy, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Metropolitan State University and a master’s in engineering from St. Cloud State University.
Flanders stated, “It’s an exciting time to be joining RTI as we develop the next generation of solutions that expand opportunities for residential and commercial integrators.”
Melville returns to RTI to take over as senior hardware engineer. He was a hardware engineer at RTI for 11 years before joining Beckett Thermal Solutions in 2019, where he was responsible for developing industry-leading furnace, water heater, and boiler controls. Melville began his career as an advanced hardware engineer for SoniqCast LLC, where he was responsible for the design, testing, analysis, and verification of embedded MP3 player technology. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State University.
