ST. PAUL, Minnesota, September 1, 2015 – Corona Integrated Systems, a custom systems integrator active in the Southeast US, has completed design and integration work for a large corporate client, Business Interiors, that includes eight conference rooms and two multipurpose spaces over 10,000 square feet. For end point audio, the company was tasked with finding a networked mixer and amplifier solution to integrate with facility-wide control systems – and fit within a very limited space. After extensive research, Corona Integrated Systems turned to LineQ, a North American distributor specializing in IP-based end point systems for networked audio.
Working in tandem with Dirtt, a sustainable construction company that handles general room architecture and supplied high-end office equipment, Corona Integrated Systems built a networked, custom audio-visual system with digital signage, “whole-house” control and end point audio. Keith Gibson, vice president of Corona Integrated Systems, said the unusual architectural design required the company to look outside its normal technology scope for audio systems.
“We originally sat down with the architectural design team with the goal of making every room whole-house controllable,” said Gibson. “Once the equipment arrived, the drawings didn’t reflect our plan. The credenza depths built into the walls went from 19 inches deep to 12 inches deep. It’s nearly impossible to fit an audio mixer in an area that small, and after a month of searching in the US we couldn’t find anything local to do the job.”
LineQ brought in compact CA200V digital mixing amplifiers from Ecler to deliver two output zones and six audio inputs with a full set of intelligent remote control options. The devices, networked with Media Sign Pro digital signage and control solutions from Savant Systems, powers corporate presentations from a simple setup with two microphones; and four separate inputs with ducking and paging features. Ecler also provided software for additional control options from computers as well as built-in touchpanels. The digital signage adds a personal touch, with custom welcome messages and meeting information for audiences outside the meeting rooms awaiting the next presentation.
“We integrate the Ecler CA200Vs with digital signage in every room, so that when a guest comes in they have networked microphones with control capabilities ready to go,” said Gibson. “They can just step in and give their presentations.”
The Ecler amplifiers bring additional flexibility through a 70-volt configuration that enables widespread distribution to multiple Tannoy loudspeakers. The flexibility of the Ecler amplifiers has been so valuable that Gibson expects to replace other amplifiers installed as part of the original design with CA200V units moving forward.
“LineQ has made it simple for us to turn the CA200V into our de facto standard for these conference rooms,” said Gibson. “We’ll use it moving forward and also look to rackmount versions of the same product as we further evolve the facility-wide control system in the future.”
