Cobalt Digital Scores Best of Show Awards at IBC 2023 from TVB Europe and TV Technology
Amsterdam, 2 October 2023 – Cobalt Digital has announced that it has won two Best of Show awards at IBC 2023. The designer and manufacturer of award-winning edge devices for live video production and master control, and a founding partner in the openGear® initiative took home an award from TVB Europe for its WAVE RTR-64×64 12G-SDI Router and received the same honour from TV Technology for its PACIFIC ULL-DEC Ultra-Low Latency 4K Decoder. Both products were introduced to the European market at IBC 2023.
Chosen from a pool of hundreds of entries, the Best of Show awards recognize those broadcast products and solutions that meet pre-determined criteria including a diverse and comprehensive feature set; ease of use; interoperability/easy integration with other products; value; innovation; and uniqueness within the market. All entries were reviewed by a panel of industry experts, speakers, and editors.
The awards’ editorial team have said that “IBC seemed as busy as ever this year and the awards matched this. This year, we received a record amount of entries and the quality across the board was incredible. Those who won should be extremely proud of their achievement – their product showed true innovation and hugely impressed our judging panel. A well-deserved congratulations from the entire awards team”.
“We’re thrilled to be recognized for excellence by TVB Europe and TV Technology, two long-standing leaders in our industry press,” said Suzana Brady, SVP of international sales and marketing. “And we’re delighted to add these two awards to our collection of honours and accolades, which now numbers 46. Our new WAVE routers and the PACIFIC ULL-DEC ultra-low latency decoder were tremendous hits at IBC. Winning two awards enriched the entire experience and added to the overall success of the show.”
Cobalt’s new WAVE routers, available in 64×64 and 32×32, accommodate any variety of applications with support for signals up to 12G-SDI. Packed into a slim 3.75-inch deep 4U frame with full-size BNC connectors, these routers also include an Ethernet port for IP-based controls. Web-based control allows full setup, salvos, monitoring, and preset management. This compact design is specifically optimized for 12G SDI operation but handles lower SDI rates with ease, as well as ASI and MADI.
The PACIFIC ULL-DEC is an openGear card capable of decoding H.262 (MPEG-2), H.264 (AVC), H.265 (HEVC) and 4K with less than 10 milliseconds of latency (for properly encoded streams). The card can either decode one stream up to 4K, or two streams up to 3G and supports an extensive set of audio CODECs and network protocols, including RIST.
