Audiophiles and physical-media enthusiasts rejoice, Yamaha has launched a new five-disk rack mountable CD player. While most of the world has adopted audio streaming as their preferred method of listening to music, Yamaha apparently has not forgotten those who desire audio quality that modern streaming can’t quite capture.
Yamaha is positioning the CD-C603 for commercial use, with General Manager of Global Marketing and Sales Department, Professional Solutions Division Thomas Hemery stating, “The CD-C603RK is the ideal commercial rackmount CD player for music at events, stores and other commercial facilities.”

In an effort to capture the best audio quality possible, Yamaha states that the CD-C603 was created with a powerful DAC and careful tuning. While there hasn’t been much innovation to the CD player in the last decade or so, Yamaha’s new device comes with a new helpful feature called PlayXchange, which allows a CD continue playing while disks are being changed.
Additional features include several play modes, including “play mode memory,” which retains the device’s current playback mode, even when powered down, which the company states is ideal for in-store music playback. “We are sure this is a great solution for offering high sound quality and flexible operation in a wide variety of situations,” adds Hemery.
