Repair specialists iFixit have shared their teardown of Apple’s new Mac Mini, the company’s first redesign of the product in over a decade. The big story here is the Mac Mini’s upgradeable SSD. Those who wish to take apart their device to increase the tiny desktop’s storage capacity will be able to do so, but not without a few caveats. This hasn’t been the case with Apple products in a long time, with the SSD and other components typically being soldered to the motherboard. The 2024 Mac Mini breaks away from that mold, but Apple’s non-standard SSD means that aftermarket parts are likely not an option. Still, iFixit applauds Apple’s design choices, including its work on reducing device emissions for sustainability. For the full teardown from iFixit, watch the video above.
