Las Vegas-based company Veeo‘s area of expertise is video conferencing displays that provide a sense of connection and immersion through behind-display camera technology. Now, the company has announced a partnership with LG that leverages transparent OLED tech, and will see the release of three touch-enabled conferencing displays.

“Until somebody invents a camera with full- color high-def X-ray vision, getting direct eye contact from somebody looking at a screen is close to impossible,” Ji Shen, CEO at Veeo, said in the release. “The camera needs a vantage point behind the center of the screen, but the screen is always in between and in the way. For a long time, the challenge was frustrating, even exasperating – take it from somebody who’s been there. It isn’t easy to make the screen between disappear, but thanks to a breakthrough transparent-OLED display from LG, we made it work.”
The displays will be released under the name HoloDeck, with the “M” suffix denoting the presence of infrared sensors for touchscreen recognition, and the “T” suffix denoting the presence of gesture recognition.
According to the press release, the three models announced for a summer release this year are:
- Veeo Holodeck M30 (MSRP estimated at approximately $2500) with a 30-inch screen and an enclosed case.
- Veeo Holodeck T30 (MSRP estimated at approximately $3,000) unenclosed 30-inch clear glass panel that recognizes gestures.
- Veeo Holodeck T55 (MSRP estimated at approximately $8,500) unenclosed 55-inch clear glass screen for conference rooms.
