Rode has introduces the third-generation of its Wireless GO mic system. The follow-up to 2021’s second-gen model includes improvements such as support for over 40 hours of 32-bit float on-board recording, allowing users to recover clipped or quiet audio files. GainAssist is a new feature that automatically balances audio levels when recording directly into a camera, with Rode claiming that the new technology means “little-to-no editing” should be required in post. GainAssist can be toggled between an automatic and dynamic mode, the ladder of which “produces a well-balanced signal while retaining more of the nuanced dynamics” of the recording.

For connectivity, the new Wireless GO features a USB-C output as well as a 3.5mm TRRS output, and its transmitters can pair with a range of Rode Series IV compatible products. Other Wireless GO-standard features are present, including customizable buttons and merged/split recording modes. Rode says that the Wireless GO has a range of 853 feet while within line-of-sight. Finally, the new generation sets itself apart with a wide variety of limited-edition colors available beyond the standard black or white. The new Wireless GO kit, which includes a receiver, two transmitters, cables, wind screen, and carrying pouch, is available now for $299.
