Panasonic considering selling its TV business

"We are prepared to sell it if necessary," said Panasonic President Yuki Kusumi

Panasonic is reexamining its business model in an effort to allocate resources towards more profitable sectors, such as AI data centers, according to Bloomberg. As part of its restructuring plan, it appears that the high-profile electronics manufacturer may be putting its renowned TV business on the chopping block.

“We are prepared to sell it if necessary,” said Panasonic President Yuki Kusumi in reference to the company’s TV business during an earnings call, according to Nikkei. “But we have not yet decided on a plan.”

Panasonic announces new series of 4K professional camcorders

The president’s comments come shortly after Panasonic announced it was reducing its projector business by 80%, signifying what could be a massive reorganization of the company’s resources. Panasonic has a lengthy, respected history in the TV industry dating back nearly three-quarters of a century to 1952. Most recently, the company unveiled its Z95B Series of TVs, its first to feature Primary RGB Tandem OLED Panel, a new type of four-layer panel said to improve color, brightness, and power efficiency.
