Disney Imagineers wowed audiences with their prototype free-roaming robot that tumbled and roller bladed around. Now, it looks like they have done it again, this time with a lifelike Baby Groot.
At Disneyland, Imagineers have begun playtesting their free-roaming robot concept in the form of a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2-era Groot. Groot can walk, talk, dance, and emote, and frankly, might fool you into thinking he’s the real thing. That said, Disney Parks says that he won’t be let loose in parks any time soon, rather, he is a “small-scale, free-roaming robotic actor” prototype that is used to test “unique traits, gaits and capabilities.”
Between their previously shown (theoretically Zootopia-themed) prototype and this Groot, it doesn’t seem like that it will be too much longer before these “robot actors” will be roaming Disney Parks to greet and entertain guests.
