Onkyo introduces the Integra Research division. The division addresses theneeds of custom installers in the upscale segment of the home theatermarket. Incorporated into the Integra Research components is the THXSurround EX discrete surround sound format. Three audio manufacturers -LucasFilm THX, Balanced Audio Technologies and Apogee – co-developedIntegra Research products with a team of custom installers.
