One of the toughest things to do in the AV industry is to find and recruit qualified employees. In order to serve its members, InfoComm has created the AV CareerCorps Program, designed to educate job-seekers about AV career opportunities, identify people who want to work in the AV industry, and give them a basic level of training from which to build.

Once accepted into the AV CareerCorps, individuals will be given a short online course, Quick Start to the audiovisual Industry, to be followed by a weeklong, classroom course that will teach both interpersonal and technical skills that are required in the AV industry. Upon the completion of training, industry participants can arrange to interview program participants on the spot for open positions. CareerCorps profiles will be made available the week of the class, so that hiring authorities can determine which participants best fit their company.

“The AV industry has exploded in recent years. But our market research reflects that the increase in the need for our industry’s products and services has not been met with a similar increase in qualified workers,” says Duffy Wilbert, vice president, membership, InfoComm International. “InfoComm is dedicated to meeting the needs of its members and the industry, and attracting the next generation of AV professionals through training and recruitment is part of our mission.”

The first CareerCorps class will take place March 5-9 at the InfoComm Academy in Fairfax, Va. Interviews will be held on March 9th at the Academy. AV CareerCorps recruits will be drawn from job fairs and advertisements.
