NSCA WELCOMES VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES

Stefan Yost, NSCA's new vice president of sales, has always believed in the NSCA mission. Working for NSCA member companies, he had seen firsthand the benefits of NSCA membership. In his previous positions, Yost oversaw sales staff and was responsible for sales programs reaching $100 million. In his new position at NSCA, he will spend much of his time traveling to industry businesses and developing face-to-face relationships with current and prospective members.

Yost also hopes to grow NSCA's educational offerings, because education is the future of the association. Growing the membership, he says, will go hand-in-hand with this effort. Because the market is constantly changing, Yost wants to position NSCA as a company that others turn to for outsourcing their training needs.

LATEST MARKET INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING EXPLORES INDUSTRY MARKETING

NSCA's latest Market Intelligence Briefing shines a light on the practice of marketing in the industry. Marketing and Promotion in the Commercial Electronic Systems Industry focuses on marketing strategies for manufacturers, systems contractors/integrators, and independent technical/design consultants. NSCA's goal was to discover the most effective marketing strategies and trends being used throughout the industry.

Overall, the most popular way to deploy marketing plans was to exhibit or attend a tradeshow. More than 90 percent of manufacturers reported they had been to a tradeshow in 2007; nearly 83 percent plan to attend one this year. Systems contractors/integrators ranked enhancing their websites as the most important marketing initiative; consultants said it was most advantageous for them to attend or exhibit at a regional tradeshow. Other common marketing initiatives between the three groups included producing brochures, and advertising on the Web and in the yellow pages.

ROBERT BOSCH SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE

In partnership with the NSCA Education Foundation, Bosch Communications Systems will offer two $2,500 scholarships this year named in honor of Robert Bosch. In 1886, Bosch founded the Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering in Stuttgart, Germany. This was the birth of today's globally active Robert Bosch GmbH.

In addition to these scholarships, Bosch renewed its commitment to the NSCA Education Foundation President's Club, which will endow a portion of its future scholarship contributions.

The NSCA Education Foundation plans to focus on the next generation of professionals entering the commercial electronic systems industry. As a result, the foundation will reach out to schools and students, offer scholarships, provide student memberships to NSCA, promote job resources, and build an endowment fund for the future.
