ReQuest has introduced a handheld controller for its iQ Intelligent music system. Based on the Nokia N800 Internet tablet, the WiFi controller offers users full access to the iQ multi-room music system over an 802.11 b/g home network. The 6”x3”x0.5” tablet accepts a Freedom SD card that converts it to an iQ touchscreen with all the functionality of ReQuest’s in-wall touchpanel. Those functions include full control of rooms, internal and external sources, and volume and media selection.

Outside of the home network, the device assumes the role of the Nokia N800, enabling users to browse the Web or read email over a wireless network. When users return home, the Freedom controller automatically discovers the iQ system over the home network, connects, and is ready to control the system.
