Pioneer Electronics’ 2007 series of plasma TVS, led by the Elite PRO-150FD 60in., is said to deliver deeper blacks, sharper detail, and richer color than the previous generation of plasmas. Pioneer credits the 80-percent improvement in black level to a new cell structure, crystal emissive layer, and redesigned filter. The set’s Optimum mode is able to detect the difference between a news program, cartoon, sporting event, music video, or other content based on information in the signal, and then automatically process images accordingly. The function also detects room lighting levels and then utilizes internal intelligence to adjust the parameters used to process the image. The 1080p Elite 60in. will be available in September.
