Onkyo’s TX-SR805 audio/video receiver is one of four THX-certified receivers in the company’s 2007 lineup and one of three bearing the THX Ultra brand. The TX-SR805 is HDMI 1.3a-compatible, which includes support for DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD, and Dolby Digital Plus. Connections include three HDMI 1.3a inputs and a USB port. The TX-SR805 is capable of accommodating single-cable pure-digital audio and video transfer from HDMI sources, including 1080p and Deep-Color. The receiver is also XM and Sirius satellite radio-ready. A new dual push-pull amplifier configuration coupled with a three-stage inverted Darlington circuit and Burr-Brown DACs are said to provide high efficiency and current with low distortion. Neural-THX Surround decoding is included to boost the audio experience from broadcast and gaming content by decoding up to 7.1 audio channels. An HD radio tuner is built in, and an Ethernet port supports Internet radio and streaming multimedia, along with future control and multimedia functions.
