Meridian Audio has joined the iPod club. The company’s iRis is a Universal Dock that accepts the full range of iPod devices, providing both battery charging capabilities and integration with a home audio system.

The device also packs video processing technology that upconverts iPod videos to 720p, 1080i, or 1080p resolution. Processing is provided by Marvell’s Qdeo digital processing engine, which is said to correct for color and contrast loss.

The dock’s rear panel includes HDMI, component, S-Video, and composite inputs. A source-select button switches between the iPod and an external video source. Volume up and down keys, a format/aspect ratio selector and a sync function for the USB connector complete the button array. A remote control is supplied, and the system uses the iPod menu system.
