In a complete product redesign, Bowers & Wilkins’s latest generation of 600 Series loudspeakers borrows technology from the company’s reference-standard 800 series. The new Nautilus tube-loaded tweeter replaces ceramic magnet tweeters of the past with a neodymium type. The smaller tweeter can be placed closer to the midrange driver, which is said to provide improved integration and vertical dispersion for better overall imaging. The Kevlar bass/midrange drivers are built around a fixed center “bullet” piece that’s said to improve smoothness and dispersion in the upper frequencies. The flagship 683 model speaker packs twin 120mm woofers which claim better sensitivity and tighter bass than previous models.
