The TP-581T/TP-582R set from Kramer has some very unique features that make it stand out from other extenders reviewed. The form factor was larger than most due to the extra features that were contained in the units. The receiver has a built-in HDMI distribution amp, which allows it to output two simultaneous, identical HDMI outputs. It also has a unique distinction of being one of the only receivers that de-embeds the HDMI audio to S/PDIF and toslink digital outputs. There are many applications for this feature so consider the extra features when determining the right HDMI extender for your next project. The cost is the second highest of all units tested, but if the requirements dictate dual HDMI displays and digital audio de-embedding this extender has those features built in. The power supply that comes standard has interchangeable prongs for use in U.S. and European outlets. The transmitter and receiver both need a separate power supply. Like other Kramer units, these have locking screw-on power connectors, which securely lock the power in place.
