Whirlpool’s centralpark Connection made its debut at the International Builders' Show in Orlando in February. The plug-and-play platform is designed to allow consumers to interact with and exchange electronic devices on the refrigerator door. According to the company, with the life cycle of appliance significantly longer than that of consumer electronics devices, the centralpark platform offers consumers the flexibility to update electronics without having to replace the entire appliance. The company says the design will allow consumers to use devices they already own and that the best-known electronic brands will be compatible with the platform. The hub will be available as an exclusive option later this year and scheduled for a mass rollout in spring 2008.
