The MSC-400 from Universal Remote Control was designed as an affordable ($799) component-style controller for advanced home entertainment systems. Inputs include infrared, RF, RS-232, relay, and front-panel USB. The MSC-400 can control a wide range of disparate devices from multiple vendors including home theater equipment, lighting control systems, Media Center PCs, and motorized drapes, screens, and lifts. The MSC-400 controls up to 12 components using IR, detects the on/off status of 6 devices, controls 6 devices through RS-232 and can be combined with a second controller to automate up to 22 components. The supplied RFX-250 RF receiver enables installers to conceal system hardware, yet be controllable, at up to 100ft.. The MSC-400 tests the status of devices it controls and issues commands accordingly.
