PSB Vision Sound

PSB Speakers’ VS400 floor-standing loudspeaker ($999) is tall and elegant, a visually appealing complement to the most sophisticated televisions and contemporary furniture. It uses four 4.5in. woofers that provide impressive bass extension with a 1in. Neodymium magnet tweeter.

The highly versatile VS300 ($749) can be placed on the wall, used as a center channel speaker, or even serve as a mini tower with the optional desktop base. The VS300 is designed for on-wall mounting next to 42in.-and-larger flat-panel displays, incorporating a unique crossover circuit that flattens the frequency response for on-wall mounting. Since wall mounting a speaker causes a rear wall bounce—and a subsequent sonic delay of the reflected sound—a broad acoustic depression centered around the 400Hz to 500Hz range is created. The exclusive corrective circuitry precisely fills in the depression and accurately equalizes the system back to flat. When the speaker is table mounted, the circuit can be defeated.

The VS300's wall-mounting bracket turns over a broad range of angles so that it can be aimed inward for best stereo effect. The same bracket, with the addition of two feet, becomes a center channel for placing atop a TV or in front of a table-mounted set.

Both models are enclosed in rigid and attractive aluminum extrusions (black or titanium finish), which are acoustically inert and beautifully durable. All use high-excursion, wide-suspension woofers with a vented system design to get maximum bass from minimum dimensions. Special care was taken with the aluminum dome tweeters to optimize their high performance with a carefully contoured waveguide, which blends seamlessly into the obstruction-free face of the system's cabinet.
