Designing any high-technology product requires making trade-offs. It is no different for digital projectors, where one aspect of image performance usually has to be traded off for another. One of the most important performance metrics for a projector is its light output, since that affects both the practical size of the projected image and the amount of ambient light it can tolerate. Unfortunately, in a practical projector design, light output is usually traded off for color saturation. Increasing one usually means decreasing the other. However, 4DColor—a recent advancement in projection technology—is changing the rules. Christie Digital goes more in-depth in this free whitepaper.
