LCD MONITOR

BenQ's FP202W 20in. widescreen LCD monitor offers enhanced image quality with an 8ms response time, a 1680×1050 resolution, and a 600:1 contrast ratio. The widescreen design allows the user to display and comfortably read two pages of text side by side, while preserving the display of such content as DVD movies and games in their original format without cropping or compression. The new monitor features a narrow bezel to save space when it is placed on a desk or table. An easy-to-use interface includes a hotkey that allows instant switching between analog and digital signal inputs.

DIGITAL SIGNAGE SOFTWARE

Helius' MediaSignage digital signage scheduling application features a drag-and-drop interface that allows users to develop unique multimedia playlists for playback at specific times on multiple displays. The browser-based tool works in conjunction with the MediaStream SST Advanced output device, which offers onboard storage capability. Content can be displayed in a one-, two-, or three-panel display with a main window, side information bar, and ticker. Location and size of each panel is customizable to fit each business' needs.

LCD MONITOR

Samsung's 19in. SyncMaster 940MW display can function as both an LCD computer monitor and a TV. The display features an 8ms response time, a sharp 700:1 contrast ratio, a brightness of 300cd/m2, a pixel pitch of 0.294mm, 1440×900 (WXGA+) native resolution, and a wide horizontal/vertical viewing angle of 160 degrees/160 degrees. The monitor is HDTV-ready, with a 16:10 aspect ratio, and it incorporates Samsung's MagicTuner, which supports NTSC, PAL, and SECAM TV signals from anywhere in the world. The display also features picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture functionality and built-in Virtual Dolby BBE sound.

PROJECTORS

NEC's compact LT30 and LT35 DLP projectors feature automatic startup and shutdown, focus, and keystone correction. An additional feature, AutoSense, intuitively synchs the projector with computer signals and features one-touch image optimization. The portable projectors (weighing 4.4lbs.) offer brightness of 2600 lumens and 3000 lumens, respectively. Built-in wall color correction allows users to properly display an image on non-white surfaces. The projectors also feature advanced video processing, including 3:2/2:2 pulldown, which provides error-free interpolation for moving video with greater clarity and detail.

CAMCORDER

Panasonic's AG-DVX100B handheld MiniDV camcorder features 16:9 letterbox display mode on the large electronic viewfinder (EVF) and a 3.5in. color LCD monitor for distortion-free squeeze mode or anamorphic display, wired remote control of focus and iris for easier operation when the unit is mounted on a jib or tripod, single-button character off for LCD and EVF displays, and improved video S/N for better low-light recording. The camcorder also incorporates exclusive CineSwitch technology, which supports 480i/60 (NTSC), cinema-style 480p/24fps, and 480p/30fps image capture. The device allows camera-to-camera timecode synch and user-settable file transfer over IEEE 1394.

SCALER

Kramer's VP-719xl and VP-720xl video-to-RGBHV digital scaler/switchers convert S-Video, component video, VGA-through-UXGA, and DVI signals to a range of user-selectable VESA pixel rates. They use FTB (Fade-thru-Black) technology for smooth switching and K-Storm scaling technology to digitally reprocess the signal to correct mastering errors and regenerate the video in a higher line and pixel rate format. The units have two parallel outputs on HD15 connectors that can be used as graphics outputs. They also feature expanded front-panel controls and built-in power amplifiers at 7Wrms per channel.

CONVERTER

TV One's AV Toolbox AVT-3190HD scan converter features switchable PC or HDTV inputs; built-in test signals; image zoom, pan, and positioning; a 2D flicker filter; and comprehensive aspect ratio adjustment. The device converts both PC and HDTV input to NTSC or PAL output. The converter also features composite, S-Video, and component (YCbCr or YPbPr) outputs and a loop-through input. Control is provided via easily navigable front-panel switches or an IR remote with onscreen display and a bundled RS-232 utility.
