Projection News at CES 2008

Optoma was a heavy hitter at the show, releasing several new projectors in many of its product lines. Optoma’s EP761 delivers 3200 lumens of brightness and a 2200:1 contrast ratio for a street price of $1,299. The company also introduced the EP1691 and the EP7155 projectors, which each at 3.2lbs, they’re a projector to have in the portable presentation kit for a list price of $999. Optoma also introduced a new 100in. professional installation rear projector called the HDBV5100P that is part of its BigVizion line. The projector features native 1080p (1920x1080) resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio, but it won’t be available until later in the first quarter with a MRSP of $34,999. As part of its TX series, Optoma introduced the TX776, TX782, and TX783 digital projectors are designed for large and demanding environments, such as the professional installation industry. All three projectors feature native XGA resolution, super bright lumens levels, and a multitude of connections, including HDMI, DVI w/HDCP, VGA-In/Out, S-Video, Composite, and +12V Trigger. Prices are still yet to be determined, but will be available in March.

Casio also had its hand in the corporate projector jar with the release of its two new ultra-bright models in the Super Slim Projector series. The new XJ-S31 ($999) and XJ-S36 ($1,299) feature a brightness of 2000 ANSI lumens with a height of just 1.69in. (1.26in. at the thinnest point).
