DT Research Expands WebDT Line

DT Research has rolled out a pair of new digital signage appliances as part of its 1080p WebDT Digital Signage System family: the SA3000 and the MS1600.

DT Research has rolled out a pair of new digital signage appliances as part of its 1080p WebDT Digital Signage System family: the SA3000 and the MS1600.

The SA3000 fits an Intel Core 2 Duo processor into a compact package. Based on 45 nm transistor technology, the SA3000 offers improved content playback quality for smooth streaming, according to the company. With low heat generation and reduced power consumption, the company says the SA3000 could be considered an energy-saving "green" appliance.

"By utilizing Intel architecture, DT Research is able to offer remote management via Intel Advanced Management Technology and a powerful energy efficient system multi-core for many markets," said Joe Jensen, general manager of Intel's Embedded Computing Division, in a statement.

The SA3000 runs the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded operating system and supports all major media files up to 1920x1080 resolution. It is fanless, with moving parts, although an optional hard drive is available, as well as solid-state drives and a wireless networking option.

"We are pleased to work with Intel to deliver the highest-quality, leading-edge appliances to set the standard for performance and energy savings in the digital signage market," said Dr. Daw Tsai, president of DT Research. "As the digital signage market evolves, and customers become savvier, the need for better performance and green operation will become stronger."

The higher-end MS1600 is powered by the Intel Quad-Core i7 processor and provides full HD 1080p video quality to as many as 16 displays. It also runs a Microsoft Windows operating system. Company executives say the MS1600 is suited for applications such as menu boards, flight/transportation information, and creative display arrangements. The energy-efficient MS1600 enables dynamic digital signage deployments in spaces where multiple screens are indoors and viewed by audiences at close range, such as shopping malls, entertainment venues, and airports.

Like all signage appliances in the WebDT line, the SA3000 and MS1600 can be managed remotely with the WebDT content Manager software, which is bundled with the appliances and offers an intuitive interface for organizing, scheduling, and deploying content. The WebDT Content Manager provides multiple zone support and planning for each display, so that a screen from the SA3000 can be divided into up to eight areas with different content in each zone, and a screen from the MS1600 can be divided into up to 16 individual zones.
