Black Box has introduced the new VGA Pattern Generator (PG-VGA) and HDMI & DVI Pattern Generator (PG-DIG) to make it easier for healthcare, university, and government labs to calibrate remote computer monitors and HD 1080p displays. According to the company, the portable, handheld testing devices allow installers, integrators, and AV techs to quickly verify that source video is reproduced accurately on remote monitors or displays.

Well-suited for any distributed video, multimedia studio, and digital signage application, the compact, rugged pattern generators feature a built-in rechargeable battery that supports up to eight hours of continuous use.

Testing is achieved by using push-button controls and an onscreen display menu within the tester's integrated LCD screen. Testing is available for dozens of VGA and HDTV resolutions as well as 34 video test patterns for color performance and linearity.
