Aurora Multimedia and Knox Video have teamed up to expand Knox's Chameleon series of matrix switchers by integrating a touch-panel/control system. The TPC7 makes it possible to fully control a system from the rack location or via web interface.

Building on the original Chameleon's design that integrated a widescreen video preview monitor into the front panel, the TPC7's touch panel is integrated into the chassis for a multiformat input preview, as well as control capabilities. According to the company, this solution not only minimizes the amount of rack space used by multiple devices, but the TPC7 is also cost effective.

Knox plans to offer a rack-mount and wall-mount version of the TPC7 to be coupled with the company's switching products. The TPC7 offers open-source, non-proprietary programming, according to Aurora officials, and includes a serial RS-232/422/485 input, two IR outputs and one input, two C-type relays, two I/Os, two 10/100 LAN auto MDX, one stereo line in, one stereo line out, one front-panel loudspeaker, one front-panel microphone, one USB 2.0 host expansion port, and one micro SD expansion port.
