SpinetiX Player to Make U.S. Debut

Swiss digital signage hardware manufacturer SpinetiX S.A. plans to exhibit the HMP100 Hyper Media Player in the U.S. for the first time at next week's Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas.

Swiss digital signage hardware manufacturer SpinetiX S.A. plans to exhibit the HMP100 Hyper Media Player in the U.S. for the first time at next week's Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas.

According to the company, the term "hyper media," derived from "hypertext," implies graphics, audio, video, plain text, and hyperlinks combined to create a mostly non-linear medium of information. The HMP100 Hyper Media Player uses open software, allowing users to target messaging and customize applications. As a networked player, it offers a dedicated, standalone alternative to traditional PC-based video to deliver content by connecting to digital displays via HDMI and VGA, the company adds. Based on the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) platform, the HMP100 can mix streaming video, encoded video, or images and audio file formats with other dynamic information, such as RSS or XML.

Company officials say the HMP100 delivers content to digital displays in a variety of ways, including accessing public or private databases; aggregating and displaying RSS news based on keywords; connecting to public or private AV streaming servers to display live events, news, and entertainment content; retrieving images and videos from network disks; enabling a range of interactive network services; and scheduling when and where to display desired content.

The HMP100 Hyper Media Player consumes just 2 watts, according to the company. It is also RoHS compliant and guarantees low recycling costs because of its minimal electronic parts, reliability, and long lifespan, says SpinetiX.
