Echolab Corporation announces a multidefinition video switcher, called OvationMD. The company boasts the HD-ready series as offering the latest in multidefinition switcher technology, building on Echolab's Opera SD series of switchers. OvationMD switchers support SD video formats and reportedly ease the transition to HD production while offering the same functionality as the Opera series: full-function keyers on each M/E, downstream keyers, frame buffers, frame synchronizers, and options for partner power control. The switchers also include internal analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion, up/down/crossconversion, frame synchronizers, and frame buffers. Conversion options include outputs in 1080i, 720p, and SD formats.
