The VP-414 and V-416 video scalers from Kramer Electronics are designed to accept composite or S-video signals and scale them to a computer graphics HDTV video output resolution. The devices support scaling video up to VGA, SVGA, XGA, or WXGA resolution in RGBHV output format, or 480p, 576p, 720p, or 1080i resolutions in component output format. The VP-414 (pictured here) has a 15-pin HD output connector, while the VP-416 includes a DVI-I output connector. An input selection switch toggles between composite video and S-video inputs, and a resolution button toggles between output resolutions on both models. Price: $395 (VP-414); $495 (VP-416).
