Onkyo's new TX-SR806 is its first receiver to carry THX's Ultra2Plus certification, which ensures that high performance standards are met in rooms 3,000 cubic feet and larger. It features THX Loudness Plus technology, said to improve audio reproduction at reduced volume levels by adjusting front-to-back loudspeaker levels and frequency balance. Texas Instruments' Aureus DSP chips for digital audio processing provide decoding for Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital HD, and DTS-HD Master Audio, allowing the TX-SR806 to take advantage of the high-definition audio capabilities of the Blu-ray disc format.
