Magenta Research has introduced a full-matrix, scalable Cat5 switch platform that provides multiple switch solutions from 16x16 to 256x256. The platform combines the company's Mondo Matrix and MultiView products to create a system capable of 2048x1536 resolution computer video. The platform enables concurrent switching of stereo, mono, or S/PDIF audio, as well as simplex serial or duplex RS232. The company's Morph-It (pictured here) rack-based Cat5 signal distribution platform is designed for use at the front end of the switch platform. Morph-It supports up to 16 dual transmitter cards, enabling 32 powered transmitters to be packed into the 4U unit. Price: Cat5 Switch Platforms start at $10,250; $1,200 (Morph-It).
