The Smartvue S2 surveillance system from Nashville, TN-based IP video solutions company Smartvue could save AV integrators time on a large install project. The plugand-play system consists of a Digital Video Manager (DVM) and up to 10 DVD-quality cameras with H.264 compression and progressive scan imaging. Once the DVM is connected to a network, the self-configuring cameras automatically assume an IP address that doesn’t conflict with other components on the network. The system, which enables authorized users to view video content on a web browser or cell phone, sends alerts when the cameras detect motion. The Smartvue S2 DVM lists for $3,495, and each additional camera lists for $1,750.
