Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems and Yamaha Corp. of America, along with Elation Lighting, Shure, and Media Shout, announced they will co-sponsor two Worship Arts Technology Summits (WATS) scheduled to take place next month.

The first event will be held in conjunction with Sandy Cove Ministries in North East, Md., Feb. 2-4. The second will take place at the Lifeway Ridgecrest Conference Center in Ridgecrest, N.C., Feb. 15-17.

According to Yamaha, the seminars will offer product and technical training to church technicians and musicians seeking in-depth technology training available in the areas of audio, musicianship, lighting, recording, and media presentation. Summit sponsor experts, along with leading worship musicians, will be on hand for the three-day tracks that include coursework in the areas of audio, musicians, lighting, media, and vocals. All skill levels are welcome, because the training will be presented in structured technology tracks designed to allow attendees to begin with the basics and build upon them with a series of increasingly advanced class offerings, according to Yahama officials. The sessions will include hands-on participation, focused teaching, and certification.

"What makes the WATS Summit unique is that most technical training conferences are one or two days long–sufficient for fundamental theory, but less so in applying the theory to real-world situations," said Dan Craik, house of worship marketing manager for Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, in a statement. "Applications and principles will be demonstrated in real time, with real musicians, and participants will have their hands on real gear."
