Warner Bros. Entertainment announced that it will release its high definition DVD titles exclusively in Blu-ray format, ending its partnership with the competing HD DVD. Citing consumer demand, Warner Home Video will continue to release titles in the HD DVD format until the end of May 2008.

"The window of opportunity for high-definition DVD could be missed if format confusion continues to linger," says Barry Meyer, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. "We believe that exclusively distributing in Blu-ray will further the potential for mass market success and ultimately benefit retailers, producers, and most importantly, consumers."

According to Jeff Bewkes, president and CEO of parent company Time Warner, Warner Bros. had released titles in both HD formats "in an effort to provide consumer choice, foster mainstream adoption, and drive down hardware prices."
