Sanyo Rolls Out Two New Projectors

Sanyo North America introduced a pair of new projectors with an eye toward balancing light efficiency and brightness. The new PLC-XM150/150L and PLC-XM100/100L projectors output 6,000 and 5,000 lumens, respectively. Each includes the company's Active Maintenance Filter (AMF) system and a new optical engine.

Company official attribute the projectors' lumen output to an inorganic liquid crystal panel incorporated into the newly developed optical engine, along with cooling technology. According to the company, the light efficiency is approximately 20 percent higher compared to Sanyo's conventional models, enabling big-screen projection in large venues and well-lit areas-a feature that also lends itself to digital signage.

Both come with the company's AMF system, a single cartridge that contains filter rolls and lasts approximately 10,000 hours. When the system detects air blocks or clogs, the filter reel scrolls to the next clean filter, the company says.

There are five lens options for the two projectors. Power vertical/horizontal lens shifting and power zoom/focus functions are designed to ease installation and operation. Both features enable projection adjustments without changing the projectors' positions, which can be an advantage when the projector is placed on the wall or ceiling, according to Sanyo. A vertical 360-degree tilt angle feature allows projection on the ceiling, floor, or any other surface. Auto-input signal search automatically detects the signal input, says the company.

Both models are compatible with Sanyo's PJ-Net Organizer that enables centralized control of the projector over a network via LAN terminal (RJ45). Other functions include corner keystone correction and a mechanical shutter. The direct power-off function allows the projector to shut down without the need to cool down.
