Samsung Selects Senior VP of Marketing

Samsung Electronics America promoted David Steel to senior vice president of North American Headquarters (NAHQ) marketing.

Samsung Electronics America promoted David Steel to senior vice president of North American Headquarters (NAHQ) marketing. Steel will be responsible for corporate planning, marketing management, and market intelligence. He will report directly to S.W. Hong, executive vice president of NAHQ Strategic Marketing.

Steel joins NAHQ after 10 years at Samsung Electronics in Korea. He began with the company in Samsung's Global Strategy Group, where he worked on strategic projects for several subsidiary companies under the Samsung Group umbrella. From 2002 to 2007, he served as vice president and head of marketing for the Digital Media business. In 2007, he moved to the Mobile Communications Division, where he was head of marketing strategy.

“David brings to NAHQ a strategic mindset, an intimate understanding of different product categories, and an extensive network within our retail and channel partners around the world,” said Hong in a statement. “We are thrilled to add him to our team at a time when we are seeing exceptional growth and entering the second half of 2008.”

“Samsung's brand resonates across the globe, but especially here in the U.S., there is an opportunity to further our leadership role in the electronics industry,” said Steel.
