This week Projectiondesign unveiled its new F35 series DLP projector, the company's first to feature a Texas Instruments WQXGA DLP chip, with 2,560 x 1,600 resolution.

WQXGA features 78 percent more pixels than WUXGA projectors (1,920 x 1,200) and offers more than five times the resolution of a standard XGA display. The result is a high-density display with realistic images, sharpness, and clarity, produced using fewer projectors, according to the company.

"Bringing this new, ultra-high resolution imaging to market will increase efficiencies, reduce installation complexities, and provide a better return on investment for users," said Anders Lokke, international marketing and communications manager for Projectiondesign, in a statement. "For the same number of channels you now get more pixels, and that is of great benefit in visualization and simulation, where the emphasis is on fine detail and the accurate rendering of images."

"This is not the first time that we have provided our technology to [Projectiondesign] to launch into the market," said Roger Carver, manager of DLP's front projector business at Texas Instruments, in a statement. "We see this introduction as a major step forward in technology and it is really satisfying to see this ultra-high resolution being exploited by Projectiondesign in such an effective and imaginative way."

The F35 is scheduled to be available to market during the second half of 2010. Projectiondesign is currently showing the F35 to enable systems integration and end-user communities to see its potential and plan their future projects accordingly, says the company.
