"Our motivation to create the DVDO iScan Duo came from the success of our Edge video processor," said CEO Doug Fealtman in a statement. "Edge generated enormous interest from custom integrators and serious videophiles. Their requests for additional controls and functionality demonstrated to us the high value of creating a product to bridge the gap between the Edge and the industry reference DVDO VP50Pro video processors."

Additional video inputs include two Component (YPbPr or RGB/S), three Composite, one S-video, and one VGA for PC applications. Digital audio inputs include one coaxial and three Toslink optical, plus two analog RCA stereo pairs. Each audio input can be assigned to any video input, says the company. One optical digital output and one coaxial digital output are also provided for audio connections to AV receivers without HDMI inputs.

According to the company, the iScan Duo automatically detects the display's preferred format and outputs it to the display to ease setup. Formats can also be customized, up to 1080p60 and 1080p24. Additional resolutions, such as 1920x1200, are provided for PC use.

The iScan Duo has 35 built-in test patterns available to optimize display settings. Setup comprises an on-screen display with an additional two-line 20-character display on the unit's front panel.

The company says iScan Duo also provides full-frame timebase correction, and has overscan and underscan features that allow the active image to be shown on any display, regardless of capability.

IScan Duo can be controlled with an IR remote, front panel controls, or through an RS-232 serial port. The unit's back panel includes an IR remote input and output jack for use with an IR repeater. A mini USB port allows connection to a PC or Mac for firmware upgrades. Two 12V Triggers are provided to control other components, such as screens and projectors.

The rackmountable iScan Duo is scheduled to be available late this month for a suggested retail price of $1,299.
