NEC Display Solutions of America will begin shipping the new NP2200 and NP1200 projectors for education and corporate environments this month, while the recently unveiled the NP510WS and NP610S short-throw projectors will ship in January.

The NP2200 and NP1200 display outputs of 4,200 ANSI lumens and 3,700 lumens, respectively. Both consume 0.4 watts in standby mode via ECO Mode technology, a rating that can be tracked by the integrated carbon savings meter. Bayonet-style lenses are used to improve flexibility for installers, but a selection of optional lenses can support screen sizes from 40 to 500 inches and at distances of 2.8 to 304 feet.

Connectors include VGA, DVI-D with HDCP, 5-BNC, multiple audio I/O, and RJ45 network control. Virtual Remote (DDC/CI) is said to allow control of the projectors directly from a computer, while the NP2200 and NP1200 lamps provide up to 3,000 hours of function.

The NP Short Throw series projectors were designed with customers in mind, says NEC. The NP510WS has a wide format; the NP610S standard format. Both offer up to 5,000 hours of lamp life and a noise level of 29 dB. To contribute to energy savings, the projectors automatically turn off when an incoming signal is no longer detected from the inputs. Quick start and shutdown times remove the need for a cooling period, according to the company. Other features include remote diagnostics, closed captioning, Automatic Keystone Correction, RJ45 connection, and dual computer inputs (VGA and DVI-I with HDCP).

The NP2200 and NP1200 carry estimated street prices of $2,399 and $1,999, respectively. The NP Short Throw projectors are scheduled to ship in January 2010 with estimated street prices of $949 for the NP510WS and $999 for the NP610S.
