Digital Rapids Unveils New TouchStream Features

Digital Rapids announced recently that it has added new features and storage options to its TouchStream Live Streaming Appliance.

Digital Rapids announced recently that it has added new features and storage options to its TouchStream Live Streaming Appliance.

TouchStream is a portable appliance with software controls that are accessed through an intuitive touch-screen interface with integrated video monitoring that replaces the need for laptops, keyboards, mice, and separate monitors. A selection of different models support multiple formats, including VC-1 and H.264 compression formats for Microsoft Silverlight and Adobe Flash technologies, for increased adaptability.

The new features include customizable, password-protected function locking, allowing administrators to configure a custom set of interface controls to be locked with a password. TouchStream can also now be configured to begin streaming with the most recent encoding parameters upon power-up, without user interaction, says the company.

Two new storage options support TouchStream's ability to simultaneously archive live streams to files for subsequent on-demand use. Complementing the system's existing support for external USB or IEE-1394 storage devices, the new internal hard drive and removable storage options allow the addition of archive storage without the added physical space requirements of external hard drives.

Digital Rapids also plans to add a Web browser-based remote control interface that looks similar to the unit's local interface.
