Crestron to Unveil New Design Center

Crestron will open an Experience Center at its headquarters in Rockleigh, N.J. Designed to be a fully immersive experience, Crestron expects the center to provide integrators, architects, and designers a space to introduce clients to their products, meet with executives, collaborate with designers, and demonstrate technology in functioning application environments.

Crestron announced that it will open an Experience Center next month at its headquarters in Rockleigh, N.J. Designed to be a fully immersive experience, Crestron officials expect the center to provide integrators, architects, and designers with a space to introduce clients to their products, meet with executives, collaborate with system designers, and demonstrate the latest technology in functioning application environments.

Crestron officials said the 8,000-square-foot suite features an atrium-style reception area, multimedia presentation room, videoconferencing boardroom, the Theo Kalomirakis Home Theater, and an interactive design lab. The Experience Center officially opens Oct. 20.

The Experience Center was designed by interior designer Andres Escobar and appointed with fashionable fixtures and furnishings. Guests begin with a walk through the terrazzo entrance way to an atrium with rounded walls and a high ceiling of geometric skylights.

"When you walk through the doors, you immediately know this is not a typical showroom or demo area," said Crestron executive vice president Randy Klein in a statement. "We didn't rent or move into a generic commercial space. We started with a clean slate and challenged Andres to design a modern space that would create a unique atmosphere that would facilitate creativity and collaboration, and where we could also host events and showcase technology."

The reception area features a 7.1 in-ceiling surround sound system, Digital Projection HD projector, Stewart Filmscreen StarGlas screen, Hubbell Lighting fixtures, Philips Color Kinetics three-color LED chase lights, Renaissance Lighting LED downlights, custom-made wave-shaped stainless-steel counter with quartz countertop, and leather high-back stools. LED lights are installed throughout the center and are dimmed and controlled by Crestron touch panels.

The presentation room and executive boardroom are fully furnished and feature a Digital Projection dVision projector, a Pioneer HD display, Hunter Douglas motorized shades, and Crestron AV and control systems.

"These aren't simulated or mock application vignettes. These are actual installed systems in real fully-operational rooms," said Bruno Vincent, Crestron director of marketing, in a statement. "No cost was spared and no detail was overlooked, right down to the modern designer bathroom, which is also Crestron controlled."

The Theo Kalomirakis Home Theater-named for the man who Crestron says is the father of home theater-delivers high-quality HD video and surround sound. The room features Crestron Procise 7.3 HD surround sound processing, ADMS Intermedia Delivery System, Digital Projection Titan three-chip 1080p projector, Stewart Filmscreen 143-inch CineCurve screen, Revel loudspeakers, RPG acoustical room treatments, and CinemaTech theater seats.

The interactive design lab includes more than 500 Crestron products, the company says. Clients are free to peruse, compare, and evaluate working, programmed entertainment systems, touch panels and remote controls, and lighting and HVAC systems at their leisure.

"It's one thing to read a spec sheet online or flip through a catalog," added Vincent. "But [to] step into an environment like this and actually push buttons is the best way to understand the benefits and value of our solutions."
