Crestron Debuts Classroom Controllers

Crestron rolled out its new Multimedia Presentation Controller (MPC) line of all-in-one classroom control solutions.

Crestron rolled out its new Multimedia Presentation Controller (MPC) line of all-in-one classroom control solutions. Company officials said MPC is a family of systems that connect, control, and route AV presentation equipment in small, one-projector applications.

MPCs are wall- or lectern-mount, 2-Series control systems that fit in a standard 3-gang box. According to Crestron, the MPC line is suited to K-12 and higher education classroom applications.

Each MPC features a Cresnet port to add keypads and other Crestron control devices. For instance, integrators can connect a Crestron iLux via the Cresnet port to add integrated lighting and shade control in any classroom, meeting room, or lecture hall.

For larger rooms or higher levels of control, integrators can connect MPC to an external 2-Series controller, such as an MP2E or MPS, for audio processing, mic mixing, touchpanel control, and more. Streamlined "button-only" models are available without a built-in control system for presentation rooms that utilize an external processor.

Every MPC model includes Ethernet communications and a built-in Web server. Integration with Crestron RoomView software can allow IT/AV managers to remotely monitor, manage, and control every room on the network. The Ethernet connectivity provides a secondary Web-based interface so that any Web-enabled device can become a virtual Crestron touchpanel.
