3M Welcomes New Corporate Controller

3M announced the appointment of David W. Meline to vice president, corporate controller and chief accounting officer.

3M announced the appointment of David W. Meline to vice president, corporate controller and chief accounting officer, effective Sept. 1, 2008. Meline will lead the company's global corporate accounting, business finance, financial planning and analysis, and compliance efforts.

Currently vice president and CFO for GM North America, Meline brings with him more than 20 years of experience with General Motors, having held senior positions with GM Europe, GM Daewoo, GM do Brasil, GM Kenya, and at GM's New York office. He began his career at AT&T Corp. as a product design engineer.

"We are excited to welcome David to 3M," said Patrick D. Campbell, senior vice president and CFO. "His extensive financial and international experience will benefit 3M's operating and finance leadership teams."

Born in Owatonna, Minn., Meline holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State, a master's in economics from the London School of Economics, and a master's in business administration from the University of Chicago.
