Extron Rolls Out Touch Panels

At InfoComm 09, Extron revealed the new TouchLink, the company's first fully configuration-based touch panel control system for handling the control needs of single-display rooms, dual-display rooms, divisible rooms, multi-image systems, and videoconference suites.

At InfoComm 09, Extron revealed the new TouchLink, the company's first fully configuration-based touch panel control system for handling the control needs of single-display rooms, dual-display rooms, divisible rooms, multi-image systems, and videoconference suites.

TouchLink Control Systems can be deployed faster than Extron's traditional programmable control systems and are easier and less costly to support, the company said. The new TouchLink products include three touch-panel models, an Ethernet control processor, and Extron GUI Configurator software. These elements integrate with the company's GlobalView Enterprise software and Free GlobalView Web application for AV resource monitoring, management, and control over a computer network.

"We pioneered configurable AV control systems with the highly successful MediaLink family of push-button controllers and now, with TouchLink, we are set to revolutionize the way the industry designs, installs, and maintains touch-panel systems," said Lee Dodson, vice president of marketing for Extron, in a statement. "Anyone familiar with configuring MediaLink or IP Link systems using our Global Configurator software will be comfortable configuring a TouchLink System."

Three TouchLink touch panels made their debuts at InfoComm: the TLP 700MV, for mounting into a lectern or wall and featuring a 70-inch touch screen, 10 backlit buttons, and a large volume-control knob; the TLP 700TV, for tabletop use or VESA mounting, with a 7-inch touch screen, 10 field-labelable backlit buttons, and a large volume-control knob; and the TLP 350CV, a Cable Cubby version featuring a 3.5-inch touch screen, 10 customizable backlit eternal buttons, interior LED lighting, and convenient cable connectivity via Extron's range of Architectural Adapter Plates.

Extron also introduced the IPL 250 Ethernet control processor, designed to provide AV device connectivity for TouchLink panels.
