Telanetix Launches Telepresence Upgrade
Telanetix launched an upgrade program called Represence.
Telanetix, an IP solutions provider of telepresence and VoIP services, launched an upgrade program called Represence that layers telepresence functionality on top of existing videoconferencing rooms regardless of existing hardware.
Represence is designed to extend the life expectancy and reduce the overall expense for companies wanting to replace narrower bandwidth videoconferencing systems with full telepresence solutions in integrated meeting rooms, according to company officials. Implementation of Represence can cost as little as $29,900 per location, say officials, saving a company more than 80 percent of the cost of a typical upgrade to telepresence, which Telanetix says can run more than $300,000.
"Organizations have invested time, effort, and money to complete their media-enabled boardrooms, meeting rooms, and training rooms, and should be given the opportunity to leverage those investments," said Robert Leggio, general manger of the Telanetix Video Business Unit, in a statement. "There are approximately 7,000 of these media rooms in existence today among the Fortune 2000. Represence allows companies to extend and upgrade those rooms without investing another $300,000."
The system includes HD telepresence codecs, dual monitor support, five-way multipoint with continuous presence, one-button touch-panel control, and can be upgraded to include the multipoint immersive gateway (MIG), which enables interoperability with legacy videoconferencing systems.
Represence is available directly from Telanetix and Telanetix-certified and authorized integrators and resellers, with installation, integration, and consulting as required.
