The AMX booth at InfoComm this week was packed, and front-and-center were several new technologies the company rolled out through strategic acquisitions.

AMX this week announced it had acquired Atrium Group Developments Ltd., a UK-based software company providing video content management systems. As part of the acquisition, AMX launched Atrium's seventh-generation IPTV solution. Re-branded Vision2, the solution is a modular, fully integrated video capture, management and broadcast system for delivering live, on-demand and/or scheduled video.

The solution starts with the V2 Master, the content management engine that provides access to, and control of, the system. It's then built out to meet the video needs of each application by mixing and matching the five modules: V2 Live, V2 Record, V2 Archive, V2 Producer, and V2 On Demand.

AMX also showed off the fruits of a prior acquisition with its Inspired Signage digital signage product family. At InfoComm the company rolled out a new line of pre-packaged solutions that eliminate custom development, providing AMX integrators with a complete digital signage solution that should be easier to sell and faster to implement, according to the company.

The first product in the Inspired-2-Go line is tailored to the education market. Solutions for other vertical markets will be available in the future, according to AMX officials.

Inspired-2-Go Education offers pre-packaged layouts containing graphics and animations specifically designed for the K-12 and higher education markets. The solution comes with the Inspired Player (IS-Player-200), a hardware and software solution that generates high-resolution images up to 1080p; and the Inspired Composer with Inspired-2-Go Layouts, a software solution installed on a user's PC that enables templates and content to be updated. It also allows content to be scheduled for distribution.

Inspired-2-Go Education will be available within 90 days.

Among AMX's many other product introductions was the new version of its Resource Management Suite for managing, monitoring and now tracking fixed and mobile assets. New features of RMS 3.2 include location-based asset tracking using the company's Anterus RFID tags and scanners, additional report options, a more powerful search engine, and greater scalability (up to 1,000 meeting/class rooms and an unlimited number of assets).

Now in addition to managing and monitoring AV equipment, users can now track fixed and mobile assets, such as tables/chairs, flip charts, podiums/lecturns and mobile AV carts, using the Anterus RFID tags. Moreover, the system now supports automation based on predefined conditions. For example, it can be configured to turn on a fan based on the temperature threshold of an equipment rack.

RMS 3.2 will also be available within 90 days, according to AMX.
