Vaddio has retained videoconferencing alumnus Michael Baker to handle strategic vertical market development. Due to Vaddio's rapid growth in the healthcare, education, and corporate training industries, Bakers new role will be to help identify market needs specific to these specialized markets.

"I'm very excited about joining the team at Vaddio," said Baker in a statement. "Their products are perfectly positioned for the education, healthcare, and training industries. Vaddio's new Squiggle and their AutoTrak System are desperately needed products for classrooms, training rooms, courtrooms, and medical education. I'm looking forward to returning to the camera tracking business and helping educators and trainers globally make their classrooms a more productive environment."

With more than 30 years experience in video technologies, Baker has worked for Sony, Panasonic, ParkerVision, VBrick Systems, and Polycom. He headed the sales efforts for the education markets while at Panasonic and worked for Sony as a government marketing manager.

While at ParkerVision, Baker served as director of international sales for CameraMan tracking systems. As vice president for business development at VBrick Systems, he created, developed, and managed expansion and business relationships in the education and healthcare markets in North America. Prior to joining VBrick Systems, he served as worldwide vice president of vertical markets for Polycom. Most recently, Baker headed North American sales for inPerson videoconferencing solutions at Creative Labs.

Baker is Chair Emeritus and a Board Member of the United States Distance Learning Association and a member of the Board of Industry Advisors for the American Telemedicine Association. In addition, he is a member of the Congressional Internet Caucus, the Association of Colleges and University Telecommunications Administrators, and the National Association of State Technical Directors.

Baker has also been inducted into the Teleconferencing Hall of Fame and the United States Distance Learning Association Hall of Fame.
