New AMX Touchpanel Features LED Lighting

AMX recently took the wraps off the newest addition to its Modero touchpanel line, the 9-inch widescreen MVP-9000i.

AMX recently took the wraps off the newest addition to its Modero touchpanel line, the 9-inch widescreen MVP-9000i. The MVP-9000i sports a next-generation user interface that supports finger-swipe navigation, activating animated page transitions such as fades, flips, and scrolls, according to the company.

Designed for commercial and residential applications, the MVP-9000i combines the speed and security of a wired Ethernet connection with the freedom of an 802.11 a/b/g wireless connection. It's engineered to automatically switch between Ethernet connectivity when docked and Wi-Fi when out of dock for both tabletop and in-wall control. It offers 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi with antenna diversity and powerful wireless security features ideal for banking and corporate settings. Support for Power over Ethernet (PoE) eliminates the need to pull a separate power cable for the docking station.

"The MVP-9000i significantly advances touchpanel capabilities that enhance the way users interact with control and automation touch panels," said AMX chief technology officer Robert Noble, in a statement. "With finger-swipe animated page transitions, 24-bit color display, and other innovations it will be a must-have."

The MVP-9000i includes VoIP intercom, 800x480 screen resolution, 85-degree wide-angle viewing in all directions, built-in speaker and microphone, USB stick and Micro-SD slots.

"Our goal was to deliver the finest touchpanel in performance and experience," said Shaun Robinson, director of product management for AMX, in a statement. "One of the ways we delivered on this was with the industry's first LED-backlit touch panel, which is energy-efficient and mercury-free. Another is the in-plane switching technology that delivers vivid, 85-degree all angle viewing."

The mounting system for the MVP-9000i includes a versatile rough-in box that allows the touchpanel to be flush, recess mounted in stone, drywall, brick and almost any other surface.
