NEC Appoints President and CEO

NEC Corp. of America announced the promotion of Takayuki Okada to president and CEO, effective April 1. He will succeed Makoto Imai, who is returning to Japan to assume new executive responsibilities at NEC Corp.

NEC Corp. of America announced the promotion of Takayuki Okada to president and CEO, effective April 1. He will succeed Makoto Imai, who is returning to Japan to assume new executive responsibilities at NEC Corp.

As head of NEC Corp. of America, Okada will oversee operations of the company's diverse business lines in the United States, including unified communications, server and storage solutions, optical network systems, microwave radio communications, and biometric security. Okada will be based at NEC Corp. of America headquarters in Irving, Tex.

As senior vice president of NEC Corp. Japan, Okada was responsible for the successful turnaround and growth in system software operations. His experience spans 34 years of product and business development, including the establishment of overseas joint ventures, OEM business operations, and the pursuit and evaluation of alliance opportunities.

A prior assignment in the United States resulted in the establishment of computer software products specific to the U.S. market and the launch of operation management and security software products introduced for U.S. vendors.
